If your Miata's top has seen better days, Ricardo at A Soft Tops can usually swap it before you've finished your workday. Marissa's son's first-generation NA got a new Robbins top in a single day, and she appreciated that Ricardo starts at 7 a.m. "Highly recommend to all those Miata fanatics out there," wrote Marissa S.
Tops, glass and the fixes nobody else wants
Owners describe new tops on NAs from 1992 and 1993 and on NCs, with Ricardo helping them choose between vinyl and cloth and installing tops they've bought themselves. Tony called with questions about his 1993, got a quote over the phone and had the car back looking brand new about six hours later.
Anupama had called at least six shops about the glass rear window on a Miata top. The others only offered a plastic fix, but A Soft Tops repaired the glass. "They did something all the other bodyshops I had called before couldn't do," wrote Anupama S.
Know before you go
Most owners leave happy, but not everyone. One reported a top coming apart within the first month, and another said some interior clips were missing at pickup. "My only suggestion is to get everything in writing before agreeing to the service to avoid any confusion," wrote Roberto R., whose 2006 NC was done in a day. It's also worth a quick walk around the car before you drive off.
