OUR STANDARDS
Evidence before enthusiasm.
A useful directory starts with a simple question: what shows that this shop works on Miatas?
What qualifies a shop
A shop needs a source supporting actual Miata work. That could be a dedicated service page, a documented project, or a relevant customer account. A general promise to service all makes is not enough.
Specific claims, specific sources
Each profile links to the sources behind its claims. A Miata repair project does not establish Miata tuning expertise. Unconfirmed information is labeled, and service filters use supported capability claims.
Miata focus: five levels of documented experience
This scale describes the Miata signal in available sources. It is not a quality rating, a customer review score, or a best-of ranking. A general repair shop can do excellent Miata work.
- Miata customers
A credible customer account documents Miata work, with little other Miata-specific information available.
- Miata experience
Specific Miata projects or services demonstrate hands-on experience beyond a passing mention.
- Miata regulars
Evidence across distinct projects or an explicit ongoing Miata service program shows recurring Miata work.
- Miata-focused shop
The shop’s own website presents Miatas as a major specialty, backed by documented Miata work.
- Dedicated specialist
The shop’s own website identifies Miatas as its primary focus, backed by a dedicated Miata service, build, or racing program.
Researchers choose the highest level the evidence clearly supports and explain why on the profile. Repeated mentions of the same project do not establish recurring work. Levels 4 and 5 require the shop’s own website to establish its focus; a single enthusiastic review is not enough. Source links and excerpts make each assessment reviewable.
Missing assessments appear as “Not yet assessed,” not level 1. Limited online documentation does not imply limited ability. Assessments can change as new evidence becomes available.
How AI helps
AI-assisted research can collect sources and prepare profiles. Publication checks require linked evidence, but they cannot guarantee that a source is accurate or that an interpretation is correct. Source-supported means documented—not independently inspected or endorsed.
No invented rankings
Profiles stand on their own. Location guides and best-of lists will be published only when there is enough supporting information for a useful comparison. Their ordering will be chosen by an editor.
