An enthusiast who happens to own a shop

ARK Motorsports in Wheat Ridge does maintenance and builds on Mazdas (and motorcycles), and Rick, who runs it, is an enthusiast first. One Miata owner who does some of their own work brought in a highly modified car for a performance clutch, a job that's no fun without a lift, and came away with solid setup advice from someone who talked shop like a fellow enthusiast, not a grumpy business owner.

Boost is a specialty

Rick blueprinted an engine rebuild and turbo install for a Miata owner's 1994, helping pick quality parts for reliability. Blueprinting means building the engine to carefully measured tolerances instead of just bolting it back together. ARK has also been developing its own turbo kit for NA and NB Miatas, and has shown it on the dyno and running on a customer's NB.

Twenty-six years old or brand new

It isn't all horsepower. One Miata owner with a 26-year-old car says Rick explains everything clearly and charges very good prices. Another brought in a recent ND and appreciated that Rick took his time, even offering some unplanned custom work to get the job done right.
