Josho Auto is a small Orange County shop run by Tomo, a Japanese-car specialist whom Miata owners describe as friendly, honest and very good at what he does. "Tomo is a true Japanese car specialist, very nice guy and honest," wrote Fernando P., who walked in without an appointment for a new starter and left with the job done and some useful advice on the rest of his Miata.
Clutch work, done the right way
Clutches come up a lot. After buying a 1997, one Miata owner called around for a clutch quote, and Tomo came back with the lowest price while still using OEM parts. With the transmission out, he spotted a few more issues and checked in before ordering anything extra, which is exactly how you want that conversation to go. Gerald brought in a 2015 MX-5 for a clutch and rear main seal and called the work outstanding at a very reasonable price.
Know before you go
Miata owners mention a couch in the garage where you can wait and watch Tomo work, which beats a waiting room with a muted TV. If you like to learn a thing or two about your car while it's being fixed, this is your kind of shop.
